BPM has a tremendous reputation for serving the nonprofit sector for the past 20 years. They have clients in numerous areas within the not-for-profit sector including arts, religious, environmental, health and human services, schools and universities, associations, and private foundations.

BPM is seeking a Nonprofit Assurance Manager to assume a leadership role in providing professional audit services and consultation to nonprofit organizations.  Join a team of professionals that have established a national reputation for their commitment to the community in which they live, work, and play. BPM is looking for managers who have partner potential and have a great passion for delivering quality service.

You will work closely with experienced partners and staff and receive excellent training to ensure that you are kept current and are best positioned to serve your clients. BPM is active in the nonprofit sector through involvement in the AICPA and the California Society of CPAs as well as the California Association of Nonprofits, the Independent Sector, and the Northern California Planned Giving Council. You would be asked to develop into a leadership position within such organizations as well.

BPM provides an opportunity to give back to the nonprofit community and expand your knowledge of the nonprofit sector by presenting topics through the Nonprofit Roundtable Series. These free seminars present topics that directly affect nonprofit organizations and will give you an opportunity to network with people within the nonprofit sector. There are also opportunities to serve as a consultant to their non-audit clients in areas such as reengineering an accounting department, developing a business plan for a potential new revenue stream, establishing key management reports, and many other areas of consultation.

 

Responsibilities
  • Oversee multiple engagements and assume responsibility for resolving all accounting issues that arise during the audit engagement.
  • Supervise and manage services to our clients, including preparation of audit strategy, setting and monitoring budgets, and delivering the final product.
  • Project management of consulting engagements.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, thus driving clients‚ satisfaction.
  • Research, understand, and apply complex accounting concepts and auditing procedures.
  • Develop, motivate, and mentor staff by providing training, regular feedback, and career guidance while fostering a team environment.
  • Draft and assist in the delivery of proposals for engagements by knowing the range of firm services.
  • Keep clients informed of current issues affecting them.
  • Be proactive in providing suggestions to be more effective in serving our clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting including nonprofit and A-133 Audits.
  • BS/BA degree, accounting preferred.
  • Licensed CPA.
  • Demonstrated leadership/supervisor experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn.
  • Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to synthesize all forms of research into clear, thoughtful, actionable deliverables.
  • Understands client needs, identifies root causes of problems, and implements pragmatic solutions.
  • Skilled at completing audits of accounting records, internal control systems, and related procedures for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Track record of maintaining quality standards for the team and implementing quality processes.
