Strategic Planning
Strategic planning at BPM is a straightforward, logically sequenced, results-oriented process. Our goal is to help the organization move from where they are today to where they should be in the future. To help determine where the company currently stands and what it needs to succeed in the future, we incorporate a tool called the “3x3 matrix.” Though each organization is different the Matrix illustrates that there are three key components of every business that represent one side of the matrix.
- The product or service a business is trying to sell
- The management that runs the key areas of the business
- The capital to effectively run the business
On the other side of the matrix, perpendicular to the “key components” of the business are three tasks that must be accomplished to be successful.
- Sales and marketing must attract customers to the company to purchase the product or service.
- Operations and production must produce the product or service and deliver it to the customer in a timely fashion.
- Finance and administration must organize the company and measure results.
The BPM strategic planning process takes the data determined by the 3x3 matrix and uses it to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the organization. This knowledge is then used to work with the business to develop goals, believing that “if you don’t know where you are going, you’ll never know when you get there.” After determining the current position of the business as well as its goals, we can help our client create a unique strategic plan to bridge the gap from present to future.
